Baby {& toddler} Dedication!

At the end of May, we had Teagan and Reynolds dedicated at church. This is typically done when the babes are in fact, still babes...but I don't think there are any official rules really--so for us it was a baby & toddler dedication. It is simply a public commitment that we promise to love them, lead them, and raise them as they grow in the Lord. We are thankful for the gift that it is to be called their parents, the challenge to daily show Christ to them, and for God's grace and love along the way.
{Reynolds got to wear the same outfit that Patrick wore when he was Christened.}

Our pastor, and friend, Bryan read Psalm 127:3-5
Children are a heritage from the Lord,
offspring a reward from him.
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
are children born in one's youth.
Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full of them.
For Teagan, Bryan read Psalm 27:4 when David is being attacked by his enemies and the only thing he wants is to be in the temple to gaze on the beauty of the Lord. His prayer over Teagan {with her name meaning beautiful one} was that she would grow up being more captivated with the Lord's beauty instead of her own.

For Reynolds, his name means king's advisor or wise counsel. And Bryan talked about how it reminded him of how the prophets were advisors to the king. And sometimes the prophets would give advice the king didn't want to hear but the prophet would stick to his conviction that the message was from the Lord. {1 Kings 12; Jeremiah 38} His prayer for Reynolds was that he would know the word of God and hold firm to it even if people around him reject it.
And those are our prayers for our children as well. We are so thankful that we were entrusted with these sweet lives. And we are thankful for God's love and grace as we walk the road of parenthood.

We love that our families came in town to celebrate this sweet day with us.
